وَقَدand indeed غَدَوتُI set out early وَصُبحُand the dawn of اللَيلِthe night مُنتَقِصٌincomplete
وَغَرَّةُand the bright brow of الصُبحِmorning مَصقولٌburnished حَواشيهاits edges
And I set out early, with the night’s dawn incomplete,
And morning’s bright brow burnished along its edges.
وَغَرَّبَتand moved westward أَنجُمُstars الظُلَماءِthe dark night وَاِنحَدَرَتand descended
فَشالَso rose أَرجُلُهاtheir feet وَاِنحَطَّand sank أَيديهاtheir hands
And the stars of the dark night moved westward and descended,
So their feet rose and their hands sank.
