بَنَفسَجُ عارِضِهِ يَنثَني

بَنَفسَجُ عارِضِهِ يَنثَني

إِلى حُمرَةِ الوَردِ مِن وَجنَتَيهِ

إِلى حُمرَةِ الوَردِ مِن وَجنَتَيهِ

A violet at his two temples bends

The violet of his cheek bends

toward the rose-red glow that comes from his two cheeks;

toward the rose-red of his two cheeks.

فَيَجعَلُ قَلبِيَ في كَفِّهِ

فَيَجعَلُ قَلبِيَ في كَفِّهِ

يَسيءُ إِلَيهِ وَيَعدو عَلَيهِ

يَسيءُ إِلَيهِ وَيَعدو عَلَيهِ

and so he places my heart in his two palms,

So he places my heart in his palm,

maltreating it and assailing it.

harming it and attacking it.
