A joy that abides and never departs,
Joy that abides and never departs,
and blessings whose end is ever a beginning;
And bounty whose end is a beginning,

good fortune that endures and never expires,
And blessing that endures and never ends,
and felicity that shines and never sets.
And good fortune that shines and never sets.
فضلتَyou excelled وأفضَلتَand you gave generously سَومَthe course of السحابِthe clouds
وخيرُand the best of الورىhumankind الفاضِلُthe virtuous المُفضِلُthe generous
You excelled and gave freely with the clouds’ profusion;
You have excelled and given generously, outpacing the clouds,
the best of humankind is the excellent benefactor.
And the best of humankind is the virtuous, generous man.

وعَقلُand reason اللبيبِthe discerning man لهfor him مَعقِلُa stronghold
The noble person’s generosity is a shield for him,
And the noble man's generosity is his shield,
and the wise person’s reason is his stronghold.
And the discerning man's reason is his stronghold.
وليسand there is not لذيfor the possessor of المالِwealth منof مالِهِhis wealth
سوىexcept ماwhat يُنيلُhe bestows وماand what يأكلُhe eats
Of all his wealth, the wealthy person possesses nothing
And the wealthy man has nothing of his wealth
except what he gives away and what he consumes.
Except what he gives and what he eats.
وماand not المالُwealth مالٌwealth لمَنfor whoever يقتنيacquires
ولكنَّهُbut it is مالُthe wealth of منwhoever يبذلُgives freely
Wealth is no true wealth for one who merely amasses it;
And wealth is not wealth for the one who acquires it,
it belongs instead to the one who spends it.
But it is the wealth of the one who gives freely.
وبالجِدِّand through diligence يُدفَعُis warded off ماwhat يتقىis feared
وبالجدand through diligence يُدرَكُis attained ماwhat يؤمَلُis hoped for
Through earnest striving, what is feared is warded off,
And through diligence, what is feared is warded off,
and through earnest striving, what is hoped for is attained.
And through diligence, what is hoped for is attained.

Poverty has never ceased to accompany
And poverty has never ceased to be a companion
the one who dallies and the one who grows idle.
To whoever is lax and whoever is lazy.
إذاif الناسُpeople كانواthey were بنيchildren of واحدٍone man

Though people may all be children of one father,
If people are the children of one man,
the best among them is the one whose legacy is fairest.
Then the one who leaves the fairest mark is the best.
