Either a gift promptly bestowed,
Either a gift readily given,
or, if not, a refusal that brings relief.
Or, if not, a refusal that brings relief.
فَالمَطلُfor delay بِالغَمِّwith grief يَغدوgoes forth in the morning
وَبِالعَناءِand with hardship يَروحُreturns in the evening
For delay goes forth with grief
For delay goes forth with grief in the morning,
and returns with hardship.
And returns with hardship in the evening.
وَالبُخلُand miserliness فيهِin it فُضوحٌdisgrace
وَالمَطلُand delay فيهِin it قُبوحُugliness
Stinginess in it is disgraceful,
And in miserliness there is disgrace,
and delay in it is ugly.
And in delay there is ugliness.
فَأَنجِزِso fulfill الوَعدَthe promise يَحصُلit will be realized
فَإِنَّماfor ... is only الوَعدُthe promise ريحُwind
So fulfill the promise, that it may be realized;
So fulfill the promise, and it will be realized,
for a promise is nothing but wind.
For a promise is nothing but wind.
