Rise with us; let us lodge in the best of dwellings,

Yet, if you examine it, it is the worst of dwellings.

A dwelling where you cast off your faith

When you come to it stripped of your waistcloth.

You see no suns there by day,

Yet you see moons at midday.

And on its walls are lions of war,

    Upon colts and upon foals.

They witnessed battle with sham spears,

And swords with edges that cannot cut.

And you see bodies, when they come to it,

Clothing themselves in health while naked,

With springs like rods of pearl,

    Cascading from behind the wall.
