You grew angry at jesting and did not
You were angered by jest though you did not
consider its context.

المَزحُjesting فيin مَوضِعِهِits proper place
المَزحُ في مَوضِعِهِ
كَالجَدِّlike earnestness فيin مَوضِعِهِits proper place
كَالجَدِّ في مَوضِعِهِ
Jesting in its proper place
Jest in its place
is like earnestness in its proper place.
