لَمّاwhen أَدَلَّhe grew presumptuous أَمَلَّنيhe wearied me فَسَلَوتُهُso I ceased to love him
مَنwho ذاis it يُدِلُّacts presumptuously فَلاand does not يَمَلَّgrow weary مُحِبُّهُhis lover
When he grew presumptuous, he wearied me, so I ceased to love him.
When hope let me down, I questioned it
Who can act presumptuously without his lover growing weary?
Who could disappoint without tiring their lover?
تَاللَهِby God ماnot اِتُّبِعَwas followed النَبِيُّthe Prophet مُحَمَّدٌMuhammad

By God, the Prophet Muhammad would not have been followed
By God, Muhammad would not have been followed
had he been harsh or hard of heart.
If he had been rude or hard-hearted
