رَخيمٌ فاتِرُ اللَحظِ
رَشيقٌgraceful مُخطَفُslender الخَصرِthe waist
رَشيقٌ مُخطَفُ الخَصرِ
Soft-voiced, languid of gaze,
A languid glance, alluringly slender
Graceful, slender of waist,
Cloaked by the night, content at dawn
وَقَدand indeed عُمِّمَhe was turbaned بِاللَيلِwith the night
وَقَد عُمِّمَ بِاللَيلِ
وَقَدand indeed قُنِّعَhe was veiled بِالفَجرِwith the dawn
وَقَد قُنِّعَ بِالفَجرِ
And turbaned with night,
Your beauty avails me naught
And veiled with dawn.
O fairer than full moon bright
وَماand what يَنفَعُنيbenefits me حُسنُكَyour beauty
وَما يَنفَعُني حُسنُكَ
ياO أَحسَنَmore beautiful مِنthan بَدرِa full moon
يا أَحسَنَ مِن بَدرِ
And what good is your beauty to me,
