للَهto God درُّكyour excellence قدindeed أكملتyou have perfected أربعةٌfour
للَه درُّك قد أكملت أربعةٌ
ماnot هُنَّthey فيin أَحَدٍanyone منamong سائرall the rest of البَشَرِhumankind
ما هُنَّ في أَحَدٍ من سائر البَشَرِ
What a marvel you are—you have perfected four traits
You owe God gratitude, you have fulfilled four,
Found in no one else in all humankind:
None of the rest of mankind has them:
العِرضَhonor ممتهنٌdebased والنفسand the soul ساقطةٌbase
العِرضَ ممتهنٌ والنفس ساقطةٌ
والوجهand the face منof سَفَنٍshagreen (rough fishskin) والعينand the eye منof حَجَرِstone
والوجه من سَفَنٍ والعين من حَجَرِ
Your honor is debased, your soul is base,
Honor is defiled and the soul fallen,
And your face is of shagreen, and your eye of stone.
The face made of mud and the eye of stone.
