ياO ابنson of المدبِّرal-Mudabbir أنتyou عَلَّمتَyou taught الورىhumankind
يا ابن المدبِّر أنت عَلَّمتَ الورى
بذلَbestowing النوالِbounty وهمwhile they بهِwith it بخلاءُmiserly
بذلَ النوالِ وهم بهِ بخلاءُ
O Ibn al-Mudabbir, you have taught humankind
O son of the benefactor, you have taught mankind
To bestow bounty, though they are miserly with it.
Generosity, while they are stingy with it
لوif كانthere were مثلكlike you فيamong البريةhumankind آخرanother
لو كان مثلك في البرية آخر
فيin الجودgenerosity لمnot يكbe بينهمamong them فقراءُpoor people
في الجود لم يك بينهم فقراءُ
If there were another like you among humankind
If there were another like you in the land
In generosity, there would be no poor among them.
Among the generous, there would be no poor
