أبا حَسَنٍ وفِّنا حقَّنا

أبا حَسَنٍ وفِّنا حقَّنا

بحقِّ مكارمك الوافيه

بحقِّ مكارمك الوافيه

O Abu Hasan, pay us our due,

Abu Hasan fulfill our right

for the sake of your unstinting generosity.

By the virtue of your faithful favors

أَأُحجَبُ دونَك شر الحجاب

أَأُحجَبُ دونَك شر الحجاب

ويدخل دوني بنو العافيه

ويدخل دوني بنو العافيه

Am I to be barred from you by the harshest of barriers,

Shall I be veiled from you by the veil of evil

while the sons of ease enter ahead of me?

While the healthy enter unto you

أعوذُ بفضلك من أن أساءَ

أعوذُ بفضلك من أن أساءَ

وأسأل ربي لك العافيه

وأسأل ربي لك العافيه

I seek refuge in your bounty from being ill-treated,

I seek refuge in your grace from doing wrong

and ask my Lord to grant you well-being.

And ask my Lord to grant you well-being

فإني امرؤ تتَّقيني الملوكُ

فإني امرؤ تتَّقيني الملوكُ

وتدخل في حَلقي الضافيه

وتدخل في حَلقي الضافيه

For I am a man whom kings fear,

For I am a man whom kings fear

and a full-length coat of mail goes down my throat.

And pure milk enters my throat

كتبتُ على نفس من رامني

كتبتُ على نفس من رامني

ببعض الأذى للردى صافيه

ببعض الأذى للردى صافيه

I have marked the soul of whoever targets me

I have written upon my soul for whoever wishes me

with any harm as Death's exclusive possession.

Some harm in evil purity

أيا رَبِّ قد ركب الأرذلون

أيا رَبِّ قد ركب الأرذلون

ورجلي من رحلتي داميه

ورجلي من رحلتي داميه

O my Lord, the vilest have already mounted,

Oh Lord, the vile have embarked

while my foot bleeds from my journey.

While my feet are still from my journey

فإن كنت حاملنا مثلهم

فإن كنت حاملنا مثلهم

وإلّا فأرجِل بني الزانيه

وإلّا فأرجِل بني الزانيه

So if you will give us mounts as you do them—

If you carry me like them

and if not, make the whore's sons dismount.

Else, make me descend, oh son of the adulteress
