بليلٍ بهيم وصبح مُضي
May I be your ransom, you who draw near yet turn away,
I sacrifice myself for you from an averter and a drawer near
With a pitch-black night and a radiant dawn,
In a fearful night and a bright morning

يريك المورَّد في الأبيض
With a face that makes beauty itself seem beautiful,
With a face beautifully fair
Showing you rose-red amid white.
That shows you pearls in the whitest skin
وفيand for فيكyour mouth ياO سيِّديmy lord حسرةa yearning
وفي فيك يا سيِّدي حسرة

ستفنى الحياة ولا تنقضي
And for your mouth, my lord, there is a yearning:
And in you, my master, is a grief
Life will perish, but that yearning will not end.
That will end life but never end
سروريmy joy رضاكyour favor فَجُدso be generous ليto me بهِwith it

ولاand do not ترضbe content بالهجرwith estrangement منone who قدalready رضيhas been content
ولا ترض بالهجر من قد رضي
My joy is your favor; so grant it to me,
My joy is your consent, so grant it to me
And do not choose estrangement for one already content.
And do not accept abandonment from one already pleased
