يا أبا إسحاق سر في دَعَةٍ

يا أبا إسحاق سر في دَعَةٍ

وامضِ مصحوبا فما عنك خَلَف

وامضِ مصحوبا فما عنك خَلَف

O Abu Ishaq, travel at ease,

O Abu Ishaq, proceed at ease

And go in good company, for none can take your place.

And continue your journey, with no one left behind

إنَّما أنت ربيع باكرٌ

إنَّما أنت ربيع باكرٌ

حيث ما صرَّفه اللَه انصرف

حيث ما صرَّفه اللَه انصرف

You are but early spring rain:

You are but the early spring

Wherever God directs it, it goes.

Go wherever Allah wills you to turn

ليت شعري أي قومٍ أجدبوا

ليت شعري أي قومٍ أجدبوا

فأغيثوا بك من بعد العجف

فأغيثوا بك من بعد العجف

Would that I knew which people suffered drought,

I wonder which people suffered drought

Then were relieved through you after wasting away.

That you would bring them relief after hardship

ساقك اللَهُ إليهم رحمةً

ساقك اللَهُ إليهم رحمةً

وحرِمناك لذنبٍ قد سلف

وحرِمناك لذنبٍ قد سلف

God led you to them as a mercy,

May Allah send you to them as a mercy

And we were denied you for a past sin.

And deprived us of you for a sin already past
