  1. الثوابيُّ فتى ليس له

    في سوى السؤدد والمجد وَطَر

    Al-Thawabi is a young man who has no

    desire for anything but nobility and glory.

  2. لم يطق أن يتعاطى جودَه

    فتعاداه لنا العام المطر

    Unable to rival his generosity,

    the rain turned against him this year, to our loss.
