فقل للفاخرين على نزارٍ

فقل للفاخرين على نزارٍ

وهم في الأرض ساداتُ العبادِ

وهم في الأرض ساداتُ العبادِ

Then tell those who vaunt themselves above Nizār:

So tell those who boast of surpassing Nizar—

Nizār’s people are the lords of humankind on earth.

whose people are the lords of mankind on earth—

رسولُ اللَه والخلفاء منا

رسولُ اللَه والخلفاء منا

ونبرأ من دَعِيِّ بني إيادِ

ونبرأ من دَعِيِّ بني إيادِ

God’s Messenger and the caliphs are from among us,

God's Messenger and the caliphs are from among us,

and we disown the false scion of Banū Iyād.

and we disown the false claimant to descent from the sons of Iyad.

وما منّا إيادٌ إن أَقَرَّت

وما منّا إيادٌ إن أَقَرَّت

بدعوة أحمدَ بن أبي دُوادِ

بدعوة أحمدَ بن أبي دُوادِ

Nor is Iyād one of us, if it accepts

And Iyad is not of us if it assents

the lineage claim of Aḥmad ibn Abī Duʾād.

to the lineage claim of Ahmad ibn Abi Du'ad.
