رجاؤُكَyour hope فلساًa copper coin قَدalready غَداhas become فيin حَبائِليmy snares
رجاؤُكَ فلساً قَد غَدا في حَبائِلي
قَنيصاًas prey رَجاءٌa hope لِلنِتاجِfor offspring مِنfrom العقمِbarrenness
قَنيصاً رَجاءٌ لِلنِتاجِ مِن العقمِ
Your hope for a copper coin that has fallen into my snares
Your hope has become a coin in my ropes
as prey is hope for offspring from barrenness.
A hope for progeny from barrenness
أَأَتعبُam I to toil? فيin تَحصيلهobtaining it وَأُضيعهand squander it
أَأَتعبُ في تَحصيله وَأُضيعه
إِذنthen كُنتُI would be مُعتاضاًtaking in exchange مِنin place of البرءِhealth بالسقمِsickness in exchange
إِذن كُنتُ مُعتاضاً مِن البرءِ بالسقمِ
Am I to toil to obtain it and squander it?
Shall I toil to obtain it and lose it?
Then I would be exchanging health for sickness.
Then I was diseased with wellness by illness
