We have a fierce passion for black women.

We prefer them to graceful women with white necks.

A hue that made our eyes shine and resembled

the waft of musk and aloeswood in color and fragrance.

Nothing is lovelier than ivory you set

in ebony, nor more healing for one chilled.

Do not love a white woman, plaster-hued; aspire to

a beautiful black woman, the color of black eyes.

In her neck is graceful suppleness, in her figure a sway.

In her cheek is a proud tilt; she is of proud lords.

Of the house of Ham, she heated my heart with the fire of love's anguish

from her desertion, and afflicted my eye with sleeplessness.

So the heart is burning, and the eye is sleepless.
