Turn to the garden that has unveiled itself,

like a bride, and the clouds have sprinkled it.

So its grove was clothed in radiant flowers,

as though the branches within it were stars.

A paradise whose people overflow with grace:

    good character and handsome form.

And drinking companions are served a cup

of heady wine whose blend is Tasnim.

With a fluttering gaze, drowsy with languor,

    full-hipped, with a slender waist.

Whenever he goes round, they kiss him, and he reddens

with shame, as though he were reproached.

They serve one another cups for youthful frolic

in secluded chambers where delight has settled.

Here air—and love, its shortened name—are wholesome

for a lover, while the breeze here is ailing.

It dragged its train gently over the spreading trees,

as though the breeze there were sick,

carrying through the hills a caravan of musk,

so that fragrance is ours to breathe.

And its birds sang, so we heard

melodies for which the sober-minded yearn.

It is a marvel in its making; indeed,

there the sage is at a loss to describe it.

Between two seas of honey, both encircling it,

like a bracelet on a wrist, never departing.

It has united two rarities, of land and sea:

that one runs in leaps, and this one swims.

So amid the gardens' fragrance a fish swims,

and at the foot of the groves a white gazelle appears.
