ياO سَيِّداًmaster قَدalready حازَhas attained حُسنَيَينِtwo excellences
يا سَيِّداً قَد حازَ حُسنَيَينِ
العلمَknowledge وَالدينَand faith بِغَيرِwithout مَينِfalsehood
العلمَ وَالدينَ بِغَيرِ مَينِ
O master who has attained two excellences—
O master who has attained praiseworthy traits
knowledge and faith, without falsehood.
Knowledge and religion without any hardship
قَدalready اِنقَضىhas elapsed وَقتُthe time جُمادَيَينِthe two Jumādā months
قَد اِنقَضى وَقتُ جُمادَيَينِ
وَماand ... not أَتىhas come المَعلومُthe allotted payment مِنof لُجينِsilver
وَما أَتى المَعلومُ مِن لُجينِ
The time of the two Jumādā months has passed,
The time of the two Jamadis has passed
yet the allotted payment in silver has not arrived.
Yet the expected has not come from far away
أَلاpray اجمَعَنdo bring together ماwhat بَينَهُbetween it وَبَينيand between me
أَلا اجمَعَن ما بَينَهُ وَبَيني
فَماfor ... not يَسُرُّdelights العينَthe eye غَيرُother than العَينِready money
فَما يَسُرُّ العينَ غَيرُ العَينِ
Pray, bring it and me together,
Please bring together what is between us
for nothing delights the eye but ready money.
For nothing delights the eye but the eye itself
بِهِthrough it اِنقِضاءُfulfillment / discharge مَأرِبيmy needs وَدَينيand my debt
بِهِ اِنقِضاءُ مَأرِبي وَدَيني
Through it my needs are met and my debt discharged.
Through it will pass the fulfillment of my hopes and faith
