    O Bahadur, you gained eminence when you were a retainer

    to an imam who shone for the faith as a full moon.

    بَل أُهَنّي بِكَ المَلابسَ تَترى

    I do not congratulate you on the garments—know this;

    rather, I congratulate the garments on you, one after another.

    If a robe of honor adorns its wearer, this one

    you have adorned, and it has clothed itself in splendor and pearls.

    Indeed, whoever the chief judge chooses

    has gained prestige and esteem among kings.
