My body is indeed bound to the tomb,
My body lies confined within the grave
and my heart is given over to torment.
While my heart stands still with shock and grief
وَلِعَينيand for my eye إِذاwhenever ذَكَرتُI remembered نُضاراًNudar

And my eye, whenever I remember Nudar,
And my eyes, whenever you are recalled

One festival has passed, and afterward a great festival,
One feast has passed and then another, grand
while Nudar lies beneath the earth and stone slabs.
While you lie under earth and tile

I do not see Nudar's little face in either.
In neither do I see the lovely face of al-Nadirah
Oh, my longing for this lovely little face!
Oh, how I long for that graceful, beautiful face

And Nudar left sorrow in my heart
al-Nadirah who left my heart heavy
that will not cease until I reach my tomb.
With a sadness that will not dispel until I join you in the grave

Unique, rare, and lucid speech

She studied the sciences—jurisprudence and grammar,
She studied jurisprudence, grammar
and authentic hadith from the Messenger.
And the true hadiths about the Prophet

And how often she read the histories of people,
And how she examined the histories of people
thus acquiring the mind of a sage, sincere in counsel.
Gaining the wisdom of the sincere adviser

Nudar has met her death and departed,
al-Nadirah has passed away and gone
and she is remembered with outspoken praise.
But she is remembered with sincere praise

She was recorded among transmitters of reports from the Master of Creation.
She is recorded by the transmitters of the Master of Mankind
So, how sweet her remembrance and praise!
So excellent is the memory and eulogy of her

If she has gone ahead and we have remained
If she has gone ahead while we remain
for a while in our time poured away,
For a while in our turbulent time
فَعَلىthen in إِثرِهاher wake نَروحُwe depart وَنَرجُوand we hope

عَفوَpardon of رَبٍّa Lord عَنof الذُنوبِsins صَفوحِever-forgiving
then in her wake we shall depart, and hope
We will follow in her path, hoping
for pardon from a Lord ever-forgiving of sins.
For the Lord's forgiveness and clemency
