إِنَّindeed قَلبيmy heart وَمِقوَليand my tongue قَدalready أَرَقّاhave both become enslaved
لِلمُقِرّto His Excellency الأَسمىmost exalted الشهابيِّal-Shihabi أَحمَدAhmad
Indeed, my heart and my tongue are in thrall
My heart and my words have lost sleep
to His Most Exalted Excellency, al-Shihabi Ahmad.
For the supremely bright, meteoric Ahmad
مِنfrom لِسانيmy tongue ذكرانِtwo remembrances ذكرُa remembrance دُعاءٍsupplication
ثُمthen ذكرٌa remembrance بِهِthrough it الثَناءُpraise مُخَلَّدimmortalized
My tongue offers two remembrances: one in prayer,
From my tongue are mentions, mention of prayer
then one through which praise is immortalized.
Then mention through which praise is immortalized
وَبِقَلبيand in my heart حُبّانِtwo loves حُبُّa love طباعٍnatural disposition
ثُمَthen حُبٌّa love لِجُودِهِfor his generosity قَدindeed تَأَكَّدhas become firm
And in my heart are two loves: an instinctive love,
And in my heart are two loves, love of disposition
then a love for his generosity that has grown firm.
Then love for his generosity that is certain

Abtahi in his glory, Umari,
An Abtahi, whose pride is Umar
Mahyawi—to him noble deeds are ascribed.
A Mahyawi, to whom virtues are attributed
هُوَhe سِرُّconfidant المُلوكِthe kings فيin كُلِّevery أَمرٍaffair

He is the kings’ confidant in every affair;
He is the secret of kings in every matter
so kingship’s little fingers are bent in his honor.
So the belts of kingship are fastened to him

Love for him is a duty for everyone who
Love of him is an obligation on everyone who believes
believes in God and the Messenger Muhammad.
In God and the Messenger Muhammad

Ibn Fadl al-Ilah has shown us favor
To the son of the grace of God, grace upon us
and perfect kindness; repeating it is more praiseworthy.
And the perfection of kindness and return, Ahmad
