إِذاif كانَthere is للإِنسانِfor a person عِندَكَwith you حاجَةٌa need
إِذا كانَ للإِنسانِ عِندَكَ حاجَةٌ
أَتىhe comes رائِحاًin the evening فيهاfor it إِلَيكَto you وَغادياand in the morning
أَتى رائِحاً فيها إِلَيكَ وَغاديا
If someone has a need to ask of you,
If someone has a need of you,
he comes to you about it, evening and morning.
he comes to you for it, evening and morning.
فَإِنbut if تَقضِهاyou fulfill it يَوماًone day فَلَيسَthen he is not مُسَلِّماًgreeting
فَإِن تَقضِها يَوماً فَلَيسَ مُسَلِّماً
عَليكَupon you وَيَهوىand he longs أَنto يَرىsee لَكَfor you ناعياa death-announcer
عَليكَ وَيَهوى أَن يَرى لَكَ ناعيا
Yet if one day you grant it, he is no longer one to greet
But if you fulfill it one day, he no longer greets
you—and longs to see someone announce your death.
you, and longs to see someone announcing your death.
