إِنّيindeed I am لأَسمَعُcertainly keener of hearing مِنthan خُلدٍa mole وَحينَand when أَرىI see
إِنّي لأَسمَعُ مِن خُلدٍ وَحينَ أَرى
حُبِّيmy beloved يحدِّثُنيspeaks to me أصغيI listen intently عَلىin a state of صَمِمِdeafness
حُبِّي يحدِّثُني أصغي عَلى صَمِمِ
I am indeed keener of hearing than a mole, and when I see
Indeed I hear from eternity, whenever I see
My beloved speaking to me, I listen as though deaf,
My love speaking to me, I listen intently
كَيماso that تَلَذّmay delight بِتكرارِthrough repetition of الكَلامِthe speech مَعيwith me
كَيما تَلَذّ بِتكرارِ الكَلامِ مَعي
أُذنيmy ear وَتلفِظand may utter مِنهُfrom it الدُرَّthe pearls فيin الكَلِمِthe words
أُذني وَتلفِظ مِنهُ الدُرَّ في الكَلِمِ
So that, through repeating the speech with me,
So my ear may savor the sweet repetition with me
My ear may delight and utter pearls from it in words.
And utter the pearls embedded in the words
