He lets us sip wine from his saliva,
We sip from his saliva a wine
Its aroma puts perfume to shame.
Whose flavor mocks perfume
وَنَجتَليand we behold دِعصاًa sand dune مَهيلاًloosely heaped فَوقَهُabove it
أَملَدُa supple bough تَحتَbeneath قَمَرٍa moon مُنيرِshining
And we behold a dune of loose sand; above it
And we stare at a supple, slender branch above it
Stands a supple bough beneath a shining moon.
That sways beneath a shining moon

And a tress of his hair has fallen down;
And there fell from his hair a dangling tress
So watch the viper come to drink at the pool.
Look how the water lily bows to the stream

He casts a furtive glance in shyness,
From a hidden corner he glances coquettishly
He bleats like an innocent young gazelle.
Pouting like a shy partridge
