أَرحتُ نَفسي مِن الإِيناس بِالناس

أَرحتُ نَفسي مِن الإِيناس بِالناس

لَمّا غنيتُ عَن الأَكياس بالياسِ

لَمّا غنيتُ عَن الأَكياس بالياسِ

I relieved myself of keeping company with people,

When giving up hope freed me from dependence on purses.

وَصرتُ في البَيت وَحدي لا أَرى أَحداً

وَصرتُ في البَيت وَحدي لا أَرى أَحداً

بَناتُ فكري وَكتبي هُنَّ جُلاسي

بَناتُ فكري وَكتبي هُنَّ جُلاسي

And I came to be alone at home, seeing no one;

The daughters of my thought and my books are my companions.
