أَرىI see كُلَّevery عُضوٍorgan فيin الفَتىthe young man نافِعاًuseful لَهُto him
أَرى كُلَّ عُضوٍ في الفَتى نافِعاً لَهُ
سِوىexcept واحدone فيهِin him جَلوبever bringing لَهُto him الضرّاharm
سِوى واحد فيهِ جَلوب لَهُ الضرّا
I see every organ in a young man as useful to him,
Except one within him that ever brings him harm.
فَأَقبِحso how loathsome بِهِit is عُضواًas an organ يولِّدُbegets أَفرُخاًchicks
فَأَقبِح بِهِ عُضواً يولِّدُ أَفرُخاً
وَيُكسِبُهُand earns him ذُلاًhumiliation وَيُعقِبُهُand leaves him with فَقراpoverty
وَيُكسِبُهُ ذُلاً وَيُعقِبُهُ فَقرا
So how loathsome an organ it is, begetting chicks,
And earning him humiliation and leaving him in poverty!
وَلَوand if أَنَّهُthat he يُكفاهُis spared it عاشَhe would live مُمَتَّعاًgranted enjoyment
وَلَو أَنَّهُ يُكفاهُ عاشَ مُمَتَّعاً
بِدُنياهُof his worldly life مَرجُوّاًhoped for لَهُfor him الفَوزُsuccess فيin الأخرىthe next life
بِدُنياهُ مَرجُوّاً لَهُ الفَوزُ في الأخرى
And were he spared it, he would live enjoying
His worldly life, with hope of success for him in the next.
