خَرَجتُI went out أَمشيwalking إِلىtoward شَخصٍsomeone فَحَدَّثنيthen it told me
قَلبيmy heart بِمجلسِof the sitting place of مَنthe one whom يَهوىit loves وَماand did not كَذَباlie
I went out walking toward someone, and I was told
By my heart where the one it loves sat—and it did not lie.
فَجئتهُso I came to him فَرَأَيتُthen I saw الغُصنَthe branch مُعتَدِلاًupright
وَالظَبيَand the gazelle مُلتفتاًturning to look وَالبَدرَand the full moon مُرتَقَباawaited
So I came to him and saw the branch upright,
And the gazelle turning to look, and the full moon awaited.
مَنwho أَعلَمَinformed القَلبَthe heart أَنَّthat الحُبَّthe beloved مَجلسُهُhis sitting place
هُناكَthere أعلمهُinformed it سرٌّa secret لَهُto him جَذَباdrew
Who told the heart that the beloved's seat was
There? A secret that drew it to him told it.
قَدindeed كُنتُI used to أُنكِرُdeny عِلمَknowledge of الغَيبِthe unseen مِنfrom أَحَدٍanyone
حَتّىuntil رَأَيتُI saw فُؤاديmy heart يعلَمُknows الغيباthe unseen
I used to deny that anyone knew the unseen,
Until I saw that my heart knew the unseen.
