Another went mad from a passing affliction, and so
Another went mad from a passing affliction, and there was hope
his family hoped he would recover before long;
in his family that he would soon regain his senses.
وَفُؤاديand my heart بِعارضينby two cheeks مُصابٌstricken
وَفُؤادي بِعارضين مُصابٌ
فَهوَso it is داءٌa malady أَعياhas defeated دَواءَthe remedy of الطَبيبِthe physician
فَهوَ داءٌ أَعيا دَواءَ الطَبيبِ
yet my heart is stricken by two cheeks—
And my heart is stricken by two cheeks:
a malady that has baffled the physician’s cure.
so it is a malady that has defeated the physician’s remedy.
