Sol 6.1

  1. مَضَت أَسابيع للوَعد الَّذي سَبَقا

    وَأَصبَحَ القَلبُ مِن إِنجازِهِ فَرِقا

    Weeks have passed since the earlier promise,

    and the heart has grown anxious over its fulfillment.

  2. فَهَل كِتاب أَبي بشرٍ يُبشِّرُنا

    فَنَقضي القَصدَ مِنهُ كَيفَ ما اِتَفَقا

    Will a letter from Abu Bishr bring us good news,

    so that we may attain our aim through it, however it comes about?

  3. يا أحسنَ الناسِ في خَلقٍ وفي خُلُقٍ

    خصصتَ بِالأحسَنَينِ الخَلقَ والخُلقا

    O finest of people in form and character,

    you were favored with both excellences: form and character.

  4. طلعت بدراً بِآفاقِ السعودِ على

    هذا الأنام فجلّى نورك الغسقا

    You rose, a full moon in the horizons of good fortune, over

    this humankind, and your light dispelled the darkness.

  5. وقمتَ بالعَدلِ في وَقتٍ لقد قعدَت

    فيهِ الرجالُ فَأوضَحت الهُدى طُرقا

    You stood for justice at a time when there sat idle

    men; and you made the paths of guidance clear.

  6. إنَّ المناصبَ قَد ألقَت مقالِدَها

    إِلى عُلاكَ فَلاقَت سَيداً نَطِقا

    Indeed, the offices of power have cast their keys

    to your eminence, and found an eloquent master.

  7. وكلُّ ما صِرتَ فيهِ فَهو دونكم

    ونحن نرجو مزيد الخيرِ مُتَّسِقا

    And every station you have attained is beneath you,

    and we hope for further good in steady succession.

  8. لأنتَ أكرم مَن يُرجى لِمُعضِلَةٍ

    ما البَحرُ ملتَطِماً ما الغيثُ مندفِقا

    You are indeed the most generous of those looked to in hardship;

    what is the surging sea, what the pouring rain?

  9. وَلَيسَ جودك مقصوداً على أحدٍ

    بل أنتَ كالغَيثِ عَمَّ الترب والزَّلَقا

    Nor is your generosity directed at just one person;

    rather, you are like rain, covering soil and smooth, barren ground.

  10. إِنَّ الجَميلَ إِذا يُسدى لِشاكرِهِ

    يَنمو ثَناءً وَعَرفاً عاطِراً عَبِقا

    Indeed, kindness, when bestowed on one grateful for it,

    grows into praise and fragrance, sweet and richly scented.
