مِن حُبِّ غيدٍ سَنا بَدرِ الدُجى قَد حُزن
A streaming tear, and a heart forever steeped in sorrow—
Streaming tears, and a heart forever in sorrow,
A tearful eye and a heart always in sorrow
From love of graceful maidens, the radiance of the full moon in darkness has grown dim.
From love of graceful maidens who have won the radiance of the full moon in the darkness.
For the love of a bright full moon whose light makes me blue
خِفافslender قَدٍّfigure لَهاhers ثِقالُheavy رِدفٍhips رُزنstately
خِفاف قَدٍّ لَها ثِقالُ رِدفٍ رُزن
تَغارُenvies شَمسُsun الضُحىthe morning منهُنَّof them إِذwhen يَبرُزنthey appear
تَغارُ شَمسُ الضُحى منهُنَّ إِذ يَبرُزن
Slender of figure, each is heavy-hipped and stately;
Their figures slender, their hips heavy, their bearing stately.
Her delicate wrists as heavy as saddlebags full
The morning sun grows jealous of them when they appear.
The morning sun envies them when they appear.
