كِلاهُما قَلبي بِهِ عُلِّقا
A dusky youth was met by another dusky youth;
And a dusky one was met by another dusky one;
my heart is enthralled by them both.
To each of them my heart was bound.
لاحاthey both shone هِلالينِas two crescents وَفاحاand they both gave off fragrance لَناto us
لاحا هِلالينِ وَفاحا لَنا

مِسكينِ وَاهتزّا قَضيبَي نَقا
They gleamed like twin crescent moons and breathed toward us
They shone like two crescents and wafted fragrance to us,
two wafts of musk, then swayed like twin boughs upon a dune.
Like two musks, and swayed like two branches on a sand dune.
