ياoh حُسنَهُits beauty مِنas عارِضٍcheek-down رائضِtaming
يا حُسنَهُ مِن عارِضٍ رائضِ
A cheek that came into view has tamed my beloved—
Cheek-down that has appeared has tamed my beloved.
Oh, how lovely it is: a cheek that tames!
Oh, how lovely it is, this taming cheek-down!
وَظَنَّand thought قَومٌsome people أَنَّthat قَلبيmy heart سَلاforgot its love
وَظَنَّ قَومٌ أَنَّ قَلبي سَلا
وَالأَصلُand the essence لاnot يَعتَدُّtakes account بِالعارِضِof the incidental
وَالأَصلُ لا يَعتَدُّ بِالعارِضِ
Some people supposed that my heart had forgotten love,
And some people thought my heart had forgotten its love.
But the fundamental rule takes no account of the incidental.
Yet the essence takes no account of the incidental.
