On this feast day, Nudar is absent,
Indeed, during this Eid, its brightness went away
and her brother too; so my heart has no rest.
And so did its brother, so my heart has no peace

My tears fall in torrents upon my cheek,
My tears flow down my cheeks like pouring rain
and my heart is ablaze, a fire within it.
And my heart burns with an inner fire

With them gone, even the hills and ruins had company

From them, suns shine in the daytime
and moons revealed themselves in their night.
And moons appear in their night

The ground became fragrant from their scent
they trod upon it; so its soil is richly perfumed.
When they trod upon it, its soil turns aromatic

My heart yearned for Salih; and, by my life,
My heart yearns for Salih, by my life
there is surely a lesson in his journey.
His travels surely hold lessons to consider

He performed Hajj as a child with his mother and father
attaining what children have never attained.
Attaining what most children never attain

Destiny assisted them in that regard

But I, the old man, was held back by my sins;
As for me, an old man, my sins delayed me
so may the Oft-Forgiving pardon me.
Perhaps the All-Forgiving will pardon me

I'm constantly yearning to remember them

Will I live to see them alive again
and will Nudar appear before my eyes?
And their youthfulness become visible to my eyes?

They left me for a month, and a month, and a month;
They left me for a month, then a month, then a month
my heart has no patience for separation.
My heart cannot endure the separation

O breeze of the east wind, pray carry my greeting
O gentle morning breeze, deliver my greetings
to my loved ones, whose meeting-place lies far away.
To the loved ones, wherever the journey took them

I said to my soul, while it was full of unrest:
I told myself, for it was deeply troubled
“Be still, for the journey has ended.
Be still, for the travels have finished

and tomorrow these homes will reunite us with the beloved.”
And tomorrow the beloved homeland will unite us
