O seeker of right guidance from people

who have become wholly devoted to error!

They have established meeting places for gatherings

with the gullible, and there they are of many kinds.

For some of them profess divine union, while others

yearn for esoteric meaning or philosophy.

    Qarmatians, claiming righteousness for themselves

and piety, while wickedness is their ally.

and from fear that swords might slaughter him.

He deceives the gullible with his words until

you see them around him, making a rustling sound.

And he plunders their wealth, while they are slaves

to him; leadership and preeminence are his.

And if the king knew of them, he would annihilate

their sheikhs, and death would overtake them,

and cleanse Egypt and the Levant of them.

For they are filth contained in a latrine.

But his advisers do not dare

to confront him: he is a feared king.

A king whose might has subdued foes,

and through him the upright faith has stood firm for us.
