لعيني ولكن لا سبيل إلى الورد
Sorrow enough: I see the water spread before me—
It is sorrow enough that I see the water offered
Enough of sorrow that I see the water
before my very eyes—yet there is no way to the watering-place.
before my eyes, yet there is no way to drink from it.
Displayed before my eyes yet cannot reach the rose.

بكفِّ أعزِ الناس كلهم عندي
I never feared that my death would come
And I never feared that my death would be
Nor did I fear that my death would come
at the hand of the one dearest to me of all mankind.
at the hand of the dearest of all people to me.
From the palm of the dearest of all people to me.
