استبق دمعك لا يود البكاء به

وأكفف بوادر من عينيك تستبق

Save your tears; let weeping not exhaust them.

Hold back your tears, weeping does not suit it

And restrain the first tears racing from your eyes.

And restrain the outpouring from your eyes

وما الدموع وان جادت بباقية

وما الدموع وان جادت بباقية

ولا الجفون على هذا ولا الحدق

ولا الجفون على هذا ولا الحدق

And tears, though they flow freely, will not last,

Though tears may flow plentiful as rain

Nor, with such weeping, will the eyelids or the pupils.
