مُلاقٍ لا أَباكِ تُخَوِّفِيني
Is it with death, which I am bound to
Do not with death, which I inevitably will meet,
meet—may you have no father!—that you frighten me?
Frighten me, do not frighten me,

ولكنْ بالمغيَّب نَبِّئِيني
Leave aside what you know; I shall guard against it,
Leave what you know, I will be careful of it,
but tell me of what is hidden.
But tell me of the unknown.
