ألاindeed كلُّall أيامthe days of الفراقparting مليمblameworthy
May God repay the days of parting with reproach.
May God reward the days of separation with blame
Indeed, every day of parting deserves blame.
Alas, all the days of separation are painful

How strange that I love the one who kills me!
How strange is he who killed me and loved me
Someone dear to me has spilled my blood.
A generous person shed my blood for me

May God water those days that greeted my owl-soul
May God water the days our glances meet
with a quenching draught; before them, it had circled.
They were confused before meeting

And she appeared to us one day in lower ʿĀlij,
We saw a day at the bottom of the remedy
a betrayer of hopes, withholding from supplicants.
The seekers of false wishes are deprived

She shot at me, with God's veil between me and her,
She threw me and God concealed me from her
one evening—Ramim, all the gazelles of the covert in one.
An evening of resting the tent pegs

Indeed, many a day, had she shot at me, I would have shot at her;
Oh Lord, one day if she threw me I'd throw her
but it is long since I practiced archery.
But my promise to struggle is old

People think I have found solace, yet I am
People see that I have been consoled and that
truly wounded in the curves of my ribs, and ill.
I am sick from the bending of ribs

Ramim, who told the women neighboring her house,
The frail one who told her neighbors
"I guarantee you he will never cease to wander lovesick."
I have guaranteed that he will always wander
