Among the things that make the steadfast man weep, until it seems
With constant weeping my skin has toughened as though
Waterskins pour tears through his eyes,
Shuaib wipes his tears away with his eyes
لياليnights أهلاناour two families جميعاًtogether وحولناand around us
ليالي أهلانا جميعاً وحولنا

سوائم منها رائح وغريب
Are nights when our two families were together, and around us
Around us our families spend nights and we are surrounded
Grazing herds, some returning, some far from home;
By visitors, both familiar and strange
وإذand when يتجنينthey invent accusations الذنوبoffenses ومالناand we have no
وإذ يتجنين الذنوب ومالنا

اليهن إلا ودهن ذنوب
And times when the women would invent offenses, though we had
When sins thrive unchecked, what can we do
No offenses against them except our love for them.
But commit more sins continuously
