ياO رَبُّLord أَنتَYou ثِقَتيmy trust وَذُخريand my treasure
لِصِبيَةٍfor little children مِثلِlike صِغارِsmall الذَرِّthe tiny ants
O Lord, You are my trust and my treasure in reserve,
O Lord, You are my trust and my treasure
For little children, like the tiniest ants.
For little children like tiny ants.
جاءَهُمُhas come upon them البَردُthe cold وَهُمwhile they are بشَرin distress
بِغَيرِwithout لُحفٍquilts وَبِغَيرِand without أُزُرwaist-wraps
The cold has overtaken them, though they are human,
The cold has come upon them while they are in distress,
Without blankets and without waist-wraps.
Without quilts and without waist-wraps.
كَأَنَّهُمas though they were خَنافِسٌbeetles فيin جُحرِa burrow
تَراهُمُyou see them بَعدَafter صَلاةِprayer العَصرِthe afternoon
As though they were beetles in a burrow—
As though they were beetles in a burrow,
You see them after the afternoon prayer,
You see them after the afternoon prayer,
وَكُلُّهُمand every one of them مُلتَصِقٌclinging بِصَدريto my chest
فَاِسمَعso hear دُعائيmy prayer وَتَوَلَّand take charge of أَجريmy reward
Every one of them pressed against my chest.
And every one of them clings to my chest.
So hear my prayer, and see to my recompense.
So hear my prayer and see to my reward.
