We scaled Jawshan with one mightier than it,

And more steadfast where spears entwine,

With an army that surged with horsemen until

You thought dry land a sea of arms.

    And red tongues of pennants

Address us through the mouths of spears.

And with a majestic man whose army is a pitch-black night,

And whose radiant brow is a shaft of dawn:

Forgiving when he holds power, generous,

Yet sparing of pardon amid the sword blades.

So his steadfastness was a heart for the army's center,

And his awe-inspiring presence a wing for its flank.
