لَناours بَيتٌa house عَلىupon عُنُقِthe neck of الثُرَيّاthe Pleiades
لَنا بَيتٌ عَلى عُنُقِ الثُرَيّا
بَعيدُfar-reaching مَذاهِبِreaches الأَطنابِthe tent-ropes سامِlofty
بَعيدُ مَذاهِبِ الأَطنابِ سامِ
We have a house upon the neck of the Pleiades,
We have a house atop Thurayya's neck,
Lofty, with tent-ropes stretching far.
Far from the paths of idle talkers there.
تُظَلِّلُهُshade it الفَوارِسُthe horsemen بِالعَواليwith long lances
تُظَلِّلُهُ الفَوارِسُ بِالعَوالي
وَتَفرِشُهُand carpet it الوَلائِدُthe maidservants بِالطَعامِwith food
وَتَفرِشُهُ الوَلائِدُ بِالطَعامِ
Horsemen shade it with long lances,
Horsemen shade it with their spears,
And maidservants carpet it with food.
While mothers spread it over with food.
