عَلَيَّagainst me مِنfrom عَينَيَّmy two eyes عَينانِtwo spies
عَلَيَّ مِن عَينَيَّ عَينانِ
تَبوحُreveals لِلناسِto people بِكِتمانِof what is concealed
تَبوحُ لِلناسِ بِكِتمانِ
My own two eyes are two spies against me,
My eyes are two eyes
revealing to people what I conceal.
That tell people my secrets
ياO ظالِميmy tormentor لِلشَربِfor drinkers سُكرٌan intoxication وَليand I have
يا ظالِمي لِلشَربِ سُكرٌ وَلي
مِنfrom غُنجِthe coyness of أَلحاظِكَyour glances سُكرانِtwo intoxications
مِن غُنجِ أَلحاظِكَ سُكرانِ
O my tormentor, drinkers have one intoxication, and I have
O you who blame me for drinking, it is intoxication
two from the coyness of your glances.
From the alluring glances of your eyes that made me drunk
وَجهُكَyour face وَالبَدرُand the full moon إِذاwhen أُبرِزاare both revealed
وَجهُكَ وَالبَدرُ إِذا أُبرِزا
لِأَعيُنِto the eyes of العالَمِthe world بَدرانِtwo full moons
لِأَعيُنِ العالَمِ بَدرانِ
Your face and the full moon, when revealed
Your face and the full moon, when they appear
to the eyes of the world, are two full moons.
