فَعَلَ الجَميلَ وَلَم يَكُن مِن قَصدِهِ

فَعَلَ الجَميلَ وَلَم يَكُن مِن قَصدِهِ

فَقَبِلتُهُ وَقَرَنتُهُ بِذُنوبِهِ

فَقَبِلتُهُ وَقَرَنتُهُ بِذُنوبِهِ

He did a good deed, though he had not intended it;

He did good though it was not his intent

So I accepted it and paired it with his sins.

So I took it and tied it to his sins

وَلَرُبَّ فِعلٍ جاءَني مِن فاعِلٍ

وَلَرُبَّ فِعلٍ جاءَني مِن فاعِلٍ

أَحمَدتُهُ وَذَمَمتُ مَن يَأتي بِهِ

أَحمَدتُهُ وَذَمَمتُ مَن يَأتي بِهِ

And many a deed has come to me from a doer:

And many a deed has come to me from a doer

I praised it and condemned the one who performs it.

That I praised though I blamed who did it
