قامَت إِلى جارَتِها

تَشكو بِذُلٍّ وَشجا

She rose and went to her neighbor,

complaining in humiliation and sorrow:

أَما تَرَينَ ذا الفَتى

أَما تَرَينَ ذا الفَتى

مَرَّ بِنا ما عَرَّجا

مَرَّ بِنا ما عَرَّجا

Do you not see this young man?

He passed us by without stopping.

إِن كانَ ما ذاقَ الهَوى

إِن كانَ ما ذاقَ الهَوى

فَلا نَجَوتُ إِن نَجا

فَلا نَجَوتُ إِن نَجا

If he has not tasted love,

then may I not escape if he escapes!
