قَدindeed عَذُبَhas become sweet المَوتُdeath بِأَفواهِناin our mouths
قَد عَذُبَ المَوتُ بِأَفواهِنا
وَالمَوتُand death خَيرٌbetter مِنthan مَقامِthe condition of الذَليلِthe humiliated one
وَالمَوتُ خَيرٌ مِن مَقامِ الذَليلِ
Death has indeed become sweet in our mouths.
Death has been sweet from our mouths
And death is better than living in humiliation.
And death is better than abject humiliation
إِنّاindeed, we إِلىto اللَهِGod لِماfor what نابَناhas befallen us
إِنّا إِلى اللَهِ لِما نابَنا
وَفيand in سَبيلِthe path of اللَهِGod خَيرِbest السَبيلِthe path
وَفي سَبيلِ اللَهِ خَيرِ السَبيلِ
Indeed, to God we turn for what has befallen us.
We are heading towards God as we die
And in God's path, the best of paths.
And in God's cause is the best of all courses
