إِرثِhave pity لِصَبٍّon a lovesick man فيكَfor you قَدindeed زِدتَهُyou have added to his lot
عَلىon top of بَلاياthe afflictions of أَسرِهِhis captivity أَسراcaptivity
Have pity on one lovesick for you; you have added to his lot
another bondage atop the afflictions of his captivity.
قَدindeed عَدِمَhas lost الدُنياthe world وَلَذّاتِهاand its pleasures
لَكِنَّهُbut he ماnot عَدِمَhas lost الصَبراpatience
He has lost the world and its pleasures,
but he has not lost patience.
فَهوَso he أَسيرُcaptive الجِسمِthe body فيin بَلدَةٍa town
وَهوَand he أَسيرُcaptive القَلبِthe heart فيin أُخرىanother
So he is captive in body in one town,
and captive in heart in another.
