ماno لِعَبيدِfor servants مِنَfrom الَّذيthat which
ما لِعَبيدِ مِنَ الَّذي
يَقضيdecrees بِهِconcerning it اللَهُGod اِمتِناعُescape
يَقضي بِهِ اللَهُ اِمتِناعُ
Servants have no escape from what
No fate befalls the servant
God decrees.
But what Allah has decreed.
ذُدتُI drove back الأُسودَthe lions عَنِaway from الفَراthe prey (first fragment)
ذُدتُ الأُسودَ عَنِ الفَرا
ئِسِ(final fragment of 'prey') ثُمَّthen تَفرِسُنيprey upon me الضِباعُthe hyenas
ئِسِ ثُمَّ تَفرِسُني الضِباعُ
I drove the lions away from the prey,
I fend the wolves away from prey
then the hyenas prey upon me.
Only for the hyenas to watch me bleed.
