العُذرُthe excuse مِنكَfrom you عَلىunder الحالاتِthe circumstances مَقبولُaccepted
العُذرُ مِنكَ عَلى الحالاتِ مَقبولُ
وَالعَتبُand the reproach مِنكَfrom you عَلىdespite العِلّاتِthe troubles مَحمولُborne
وَالعَتبُ مِنكَ عَلى العِلّاتِ مَحمولُ
Your excuse is accepted in every circumstance.
And your reproach is borne despite all troubles.
لَولاwere it not for اِشتِياقِيَmy longing لَمdid not أَقلَقI grow restless لِبُعدِكُمُbecause of your distance
لَولا اِشتِياقِيَ لَم أَقلَق لِبُعدِكُمُ
وَلاand not غَداbecame فيin زَمانيmy time بَعدُكُمafter you طولُlength
وَلا غَدا في زَماني بَعدُكُم طولُ
Were it not for my longing, I would not fret at your distance,
Nor would my days have grown long after you.
وَكُلُّand every مُنتَظِرٍone who waits إِلّاكَexcept you مُحتَقَرٌdespised
وَكُلُّ مُنتَظِرٍ إِلّاكَ مُحتَقَرٌ
وَكُلُّand every شَيءٍthing سِوىexcept لُقياكَmeeting you مَملولُwearisome
وَكُلُّ شَيءٍ سِوى لُقياكَ مَملولُ
And everyone who waits, except you, is held in contempt,
And everything except meeting you is wearisome.
